What is the OAVT?
The OAVT is a professional association with the following objectives:
- TO promote, maintain and regulate the professional standards of veterinary technicians and veterinary technologists.
- TO promote and further the education of veterinary technicians and veterinary technologists.
- To sponsor, encourage and promote liaison with other individuals, associations and groups engaged in similar or related fields of activity.
- TO promote the interests of the Association.
- TO promote humane medical care of all animals.
Founding Of The Ontario Association Of Veterinary Technicians
In April of 1970, a nucleus of Animal Health Technology graduates formed the Canadian Association of animal Health Technicians - (CAAHT).The Association changed its title in 1977 to the Ontario Association of Animal Health Technicians (OAAHT), and then most recently in 1991 changed its title again to the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT).
Since 1970, membership has steadily increased.
