The SafePet Program from Ontario Veterinary Medical Association was created to provide safe refuge for pets in a potentially abusive situations, often a result of other domestic violence. The SafePet program allows for abused persons to flee the home without having to leave their beloved pets behind. In the wake of the OAVT's landmark transition into self-regulation, a number of important changes will be taking place. Once the new self-regulation bylaws take effect on June 1st, 2006, RVTs will carry their own Errors and Omissions Liability Insurance. With insurance being somewhat difficult for the average person to grasp without guidance, it's only natural that RVTs should have questions about it. So, in this show we pose those questions to Mary-Ann Hamel: she's the Vice President of AON Reed Stenhouse Inc., the insurance broker that will be handling OAVT's new group liability insurance, and she'll attempt to put everything in perspective without a lot of the insurance jargon.
