Rabies Specimen Collection and Shipping Training
Module Outline
In this training module you will complete topics including:
- Understanding your role as a RRP team member
- Understanding how rabies affects animals and people, rabies testing and post exposure management
- Understanding animal specimen collection techniques for fresh/frozen specimens both in small and large animals
- Understanding the proper packaging & shipping requirements under the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act

Retraining Requirement
To maintain active membership with the RRP, and to continue to receive rabies specimen collection requests, the RRP Training Module 1: Rabies Specimen Collection and Transportation of Dangerous Goods training is required to be renewed every 2 years (for those shipping by air- Northwestern and Thunder Bay PHU areas only), and every 3 years (for those shipping by ground- all other areas in Ontario). Once your training has expired you will be notified in your member portal dashboard to alert you to retrain and will be temporarily suspended from the active RRP RVT Team roster.
