A person must meet and maintain the following qualifications and conditions to use the designation ‘Registered Veterinary Technician’ or ‘Registered Veterinary Technologist’ or the initials ‘RVT’.

Candidates will be expected to complete all of the requirements for admission within one year.

• Be a graduate from a program of study that has been approved by the Directors.
• Write the Veterinary Technician Examination recognized by the OAVT Board of Directors.
• Successfully complete an examination prescribed by the Directors on professional ethics and the regulatory environment. Please check the Professionalism and Ethics course registration form for dates.
• Produce evidence that he has not been convicted of a criminal offence. Please contact your local police station for information regarding police checks.
• Be a member in good standing of the Corporation.
